Vernon continues service after Falkland vote

Road rescue services in Falkland will stay the same for now, with Vernon Fire Rescue continuing to handle emergencies.

A recent proposal to fund local rescue through the Falkland Fire Department was rejected by residents.

Between May 22 and June 30, 216 residents opposed the plan, more than double the required number to stop it.

At its Thursday meeting, the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District board decided not to hold a referendum, ending the proposal.
