Craftsmanship, Community & Care: Parsons Family Homes Turns 50
Homebuilding is more than a career for Taylor Parsons of Parsons Family Homes. It’s a legacy. Celebrating 50 years in business, the local building company was started in 1975 by his father. Taylor grew up immersed in the trade and the stylish creativity of his mother, who was an interior designer.
Along with building countless homes in the Vernon area, his father also made many custom playhouses for charity auctions that supported BC Children’s Hospital. It was an example of how every project, no matter the size, deserved quality craftsmanship.
That philosophy continues in Taylor’s approach and drives his commitment to community. One of the highlights of his own career is building a guest house for the Mackie Lake House Foundation. The non-profit heritage site uses the new guest house as a rental property.
“It provides an income for the nonprofit organization to keep the property maintained,” Taylor shared. “And it’s the only heritage house in Coldstream, so from my perspective that’s probably my biggest contribution to date as far as the community and leaving my mark.”
