Jun 4, 2024 | 7:30 AM

The local branch of a charity that builds homes for people in need is hoping its annual 50/50 fundraiser will reach a record high.

Habitat for Humanity Okanagan said its 50/50 lottery climbed by $12,000 over a 24 hour period recently, brining the total up to an estimated $60,650 as of time of publication.

“A jackpot frenzy has begun as we get closer to our draw date,” Danielle Smith, Habitat for Humanity Okanagan’s Director of Resource Development, said.

“Our focus now is selling out this lottery if we can.”

The organization did not state its previous record-high jackpot total.

Tickets are on sale online, with three packages available. People can purchase five tickets for $25, 20 tickets for $50, or 100 tickets for $100.

The draw for half the jackpot total will be at 2 p.m. July 2, 2024.
