A Shuswap community is benefiting from a federal and provincial investment in public social housing retrofits.

The Village of Chase has been named one of ten recipients of funding to support ventilation improvement projects across B.C.

Through the COVID-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program, the Shuswap Illahee Lodge will receive $174,048 in federal funds and $44,512 in provincial dollars to replace a furnace and 15 window air conditioners, and for other related work at the social housing facility.

The funds provided to Chase are part of nearly $3.9 million in federal funding and over $973,000 in provincial funding to support ventilation upgrades in public social housing.

All the other facilities supported through these streams are located in Greater Vancouver with the exception of the Trace Winds Terrace in the City of Merritt. That facility will receive $616,320 in federal funds and $154,080 from the province to replace condensing units and heating and ventilation components in the building.
