Some residents of Lavington will be without regular water service for two days next week.

The water supply on these days will be unavailable or limited. Residents are advised to store a short-term water supply before the work starts for household use while the water is off.

Efforts will be made to complete the project earlier, but customers should be prepared for the outage to be 48 hours long.

“This planned work is necessary in order to reduce the number and impact of unplanned, emergency repairs,” a news release from the Regional District of North Okanagan stated.

“To allow the work to be completed, the large transmission main in this area must be drained, requiring GVW to issue a precautionary boil water notice to customers in the affected area.”

The boil water notice will be in effect starting Nov. 7 at 9 p.m. until sampling results confirm that the drinking water is safe.
