The Vernon North Okanagan GoByBike Week saw hundreds of people leave their cars at home and utilize active transportation options.

The GoByBike B.C. Society said there were 913 people in the area who strapped on their helmets, mounted their bikes, and logged their trips between May 29 and June 4.

There were also 91 teams registered in the Vernon North Okanagan area.

Together, the local riders traveled a combined 34,028 kilometres during the week, diverting a total of 7,377 kilograms of greenhouse gases.

Winners of provincial prizes in the Spring 2023 GoByBike Week were announced earlier this week, with several prizes going to local riders. Winners have been emailed and people are encouraged to check their spam folders for any notifications.

The grand prize, a cycling trip for two through Croatia, has yet to be announced.
