Vernon crime down in first quarter: RCMP
The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has seen crime decline on an annual basis.
The RCMP’s first quarter report to Vernon city council stated there were 4,319 calls for service, 1,337 criminal code violations and 740 property offences within Vernon in the first three months of 2023.
Compared to the same time frame in 2022, calls for service were down 3.44 per cent, criminal code violations were down 4.56 per cent, and property offences dropped 10.4 per cent in Vernon.
Coldstream had similar declines with 277 calls for service (down 2.46 per cent annually), 54 criminal code violations (down 23.9 per cent) and 39 property offences (down 2.5 per cent).
