BC Conservatives Rebuilding

May 12, 2017 | 3:19 PM

Members of the BC Conservative Party hope to revive themselves for the next provincial election.

Vernon City Councillor Scott Anderson is a director of the party, and says it is looking to rebuild the grassroots.

“We’re just very reinvigorated after the last election. It looks like the next election will be much sooner, and we’ve put our troubles behind us and we’re moving forward quite quickly to rebuild.”

Anderson says the party has been directing most of its energy at building the internal infrastructure and paying off debts.

“We’re rebuilding it from the ground up, reinvigorating the riding associations. I mean the membership is all there, it just needs to be organized.”

He thinks the results of the election show people are looking for an alternative.

Anderson says the party is now stronger than ever and meetings over the next couple of months are aimed at showing people the Conservatives are an option.

The party feels its ready to reach out to thousands of voters who were unable to vote Conservative this time.

An Annual General Meeting will be held in the fall and discussions about leadership will be underway.

Anderson wouldn’t say if he would be interested in seeking the leadership.
