Partial Hartman Road closure starting Monday
A section of Hartman Road in Rutland will see a partial closure starting Monday as road work begins to expand bike infrastructure and improve safety for commuters.
From June 29, Hartman Road between the Rutland Recreation Dog Park and Rutland Road will be closed to traffic during construction hours, Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Outside those hours, the road will reopen to single lane eastbound traffic only from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m., as well as on weekends. Street parking will not be permitted during the construction period. The City of Kelowna said the work is expected to be completed by November.
Local access will be maintained for residents on Maygard Road., Fizet Aveue, and Fizet Court, with entry via McCurdy Road East. The business at the corner of Hartman and Rutland will remain open throughout construction.
Detours will be in place using McCurdy Road East, Craig Road, Bach Road, and Hemlock Road, particularly for drivers accessing Rutland Middle School, Rutland Senior Secondary and nearby community facilities.
