Vernon Motel Flooded

May 12, 2017 | 2:00 PM

The high water levels have had a big impact on one Vernon business.

The Blue Stream Motel on Highway 97 has had flood damage from the raging BX Creek which runs underneath the building.

Manager Karen Pannu says the creek levels have gone up since Thursday.

“It’s extremely bad. It’s been like this for almost eight days now. Four or five of the rooms have been flooded and it’s still going on,”Pannu tells Kiss FM.

Pannu says they have tried sandbagging the site, but the water is going over it.

They are still able to use their upstairs units, but not the lower level.

“It’s extremely frustrating. We have called the City and they say they can’t do anything.”

Meantime, 20th Street near 48th Avenue in North Vernon is another area of concern with pleas for people to help there with sandbagging.
