Enderby Temporary Water Line To Soon Start Flowing

Enderby has a temporary water line across the Shuswap River in place along the Bawtree Bridge.

The city`s Tate Bengston says chlorine tests are wrapping up and engineers are working on tying the line in.

“ That will tie in the water line that runs from our well to the bridge and connect it up to our water treatment plan on the west side of the bridge.`

Once that is done, water can start flowing again.

`Just gradually ensuring that it`s flowing in accordance with the engineered design“

Tate Bengston says if no issues emerge, the city would then take a look at easing the mandatory water conservation measures.

`Phasing them out over a little bit of time just so there`s not a massive strain on our system all at once. Then, once the line is tied in and functioning at that point we start doing our bacteriological testing throughout our whole water system.“

He says if the results come back negative, the city will speak with Interior Health about lifting the boil water advisory that`s been in place for several residents on the east side of the bridge since the middle of April.

If everything works out, the advisory could be lifted by the middle of next week.
