6am story
Residents of Parker’s Cove are being ordered to evacuate during the removal of a large log jam at Whiteman’s Creek.
The Okanagan Indian Band is working with other resources to try to clear that jam.
It is about 200 metres north of the bridge over the creek off Westside Road on band land.
It is severe enough to cause the potential for flooding and Parker’s Cove is in what is considered the Direct Impact Zone.
Residents affected are on all of Falcon Avenue and Grouse Avenue beginning around Argali Street to Cougar Street.
An Emergency Reception Centre has been opened for the residents at the Vernon Curling Rink
at 3400 39th Avenue.
