Signs Up, Signs Down

It’s out with the old — and in with the new — when it comes to gateway signage in Vernon.

The new “Welcome to Vernon” signs on Highways 6 and 97 are expected to be completed in the next couple of weeks.

City crews will be removing the “BC —Vernon” embankment sign located on Highway 97 North by the weigh scales.

“I really like that sign. Is is bothering anyone? asked councillor Brian Quiring at Monday’s council meeting.

City staff said the site the sign is on will become part of a highway project.

The “Welcome to Greater Vernon” sign on Highway 97 South will also be taken down this month.
