Spruce Kings vanquish Vipers on home ice

Oct 23, 2022 | 8:00 AM

The Vernon Vipers fans at Kal Tire Place had nothing to cheer about Saturday night.

The Prince George Spruce Kings dominated the home-town team, winning 8-0 before a crowd of 1,730.

John Herrington, a native of Hudson’s Hope B.C., led the Kings with three goals as his team went 3 for 6 on the power play.

Roan Clarke allowed 7 goals for Vernon and was replaced by Ethan David with nine minutes left in the game.

Vipers play-by-play voice Grahame Turnbull said on the Beach Radio post game show, the Vipers came out strong and had three or four grade A chances in the first ten minutes that they couldn’t convert on, and the momentum changed in favour of the Spruce Kings.

The Vipers have a week off to think about the bitter loss as they host the Cranbrook Bucks on Saturday Oct 29.
