Home builders pleased with continuity on Vernon council
Housing, and affordable housing in particular, were at the top of the agenda when it came to issues in the municipal election, not just in the North Okanagan, but across the province.
Voters opted for big changes in many jurisdictions, but stability was the theme for most North Okanagan communities, including Vernon where only one newcomer joined the five incumbents.
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association Central Okanagan represents members in the Vernon area, and has been working with the City of Vernon council and planning department to get a more streamlined process.
“On a night when many British Columbians were looking for change, it’s not surprising to see Vernon residents opted to bring back their elected officials,” Daniel Winer, executive officer of CHBACO told Vernon Matters. “More housing is getting built, timelines are getting faster, and both council and staff have been engaged on the issues most important to the community.”
