The City of Vernon has acquired two more electric vehicles.

City staff have purchased two slightly-used fully electric service vans, a 2024 Ford E-Transit and a 2025 Ford E-Transit, for a total of $133,000 plus tax.

The city had allocated $180,000 for the purchase of the vehicles, and the remaining funds will be used to outfit the vans so they are able to be put into use.

“The acquisition of these two electric vans supports both the operational needs of the Facilities Department and Council’s strategic priority of Environmental Leadership by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and lowering long-term fleet operating costs,” a city staff report stated.

“Both vehicles are expected to be in service in June.”

The vans will be added to the city’s existing EV fleet which includes two Ford Lightning pickup trucks, a minivan, and a Silverado pickup. Those vehicles are still operational and performing well.
