Housing builds on the rise in Greater Vernon

Greater Vernon continued to see progress in housing builds in September.

The Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) reports there was 40 new housing projects completed in September.

Those new projects include 17 single homes, two semi-detached, 20 row and one apartment.

Last month’s figure is nearly double the 21 completions in September of 2021.

Additionally, there were 45 housing projects started this past September, up from the 23 starts in the same month the year prior.

The projects initiated in Greater Vernon last month included 15 single homes, 14 semi-detached, 12 row houses and four apartments.

As of the end of September, there have been 358 housing projects started and 185 completed in Greater Vernon this year.

During the same period in 2021, there were 207 developments started and 172 completed.

CMHC reports there are 482 housing projects under construction in Greater Vernon as of the end of September. Those include 172 single houses, 58 semi-detached and 81 row homes, and 171 apartments.
