Service Level Adjustment

Operating costs rising for Lakeview Wading Pool

An adjustment to overall service costs is coming to the Lakeview Wading Pool and Spray Park.

Vernon city staff told council that the operational budget for 2023 needs to be increased to a total of $35,482.

The total adjustment outlined in a report to council was for an increase of $34,482, but that needed to be increased by another $1,000 due to the costs of a new gutter system.

“[The increase] is just because it will cost more to operate than it did in the past, and we have to bring it to our partners,” Mayor Victor Cumming told Vernon Matters, adding the new pool is larger than the previous peanut pool and has more amenities.

Vernon’s share of the operating cost increase is 68.4 per cent, or $24,270. The District of Coldstream and Regional District of North Okanagan Areas B and C share the responsibility of the remaining 31.6 per cent, or $11,212.

Council received the report, and the City of Vernon will follow up on the request by staff to notify the district and the RDNO Areas of the service cost adjustment.

The City of Vernon did not provide the operational budget for the Lakeview Wading Pool and Spray Park.
