Educator seeks re-election as school trustee

A two-term incumbent is seeking re-election for School District 22 trustee.

Robert Lee is running for the one seat for Coldstream/Lavington, a position he has held for the past eight years.

During those years, Lee served two years as board chairperson and said said he was a member of most board committees.

On his website, Lee stated he brings 33 years of experience as a teacher and principal in the public school system, holds a masters degree in education administration, has experience working with Ministry of Education officials, and over 14 years experience as a child care and afterschool care business owner.

Lee also noted he has experience working with public health officials responsible for child care, has a solid understanding of a good business model and accounting, and five years of administrative experience with child care in the public school setting.

Looking ahead to the next term, Lee has several goals he would like to achieve:

Continue to improve academic achievement
Have SD22 partner with area municipalities to find solutions to challenges families face
Increase the representation for Coldstream/Lavington based on equity and population
Review the open door policy in regards to student and staff safety
Renew the Revenue Generation Committee, which was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic but should return to source funding from independent avenues to enhance student learning

Citizens will cast their ballots for school trustees as well as mayor and council at the 2022 general local election on October 15. General voting will be available at Lavington Elementary and Coldstream Elementary from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Advance voting will be available at the Coldstream Municipal Hall’s council chambers from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, and Thursday, Oct. 13.
