Decision time for local general elections

Oct 11, 2022 | 6:30 AM

You’re going to be hearing a lot about the local general elections this week with voting this Saturday to elect municipal councils and school trustees.

Vernon and Coldstream residents will also be voting on separate referendums: Vernon to borrow up to $121-million for an Active Living Centre, and Coldstream to borrow up to $8.5 million to construct a new public works building and renovate the former firehall.

Advance polls will be held tomorrow and Thursday in most communities.

The results will start to come in after 8 p.m. on Saturday

Residents of Electoral Areas B and C in the Regional District of North Okanagan may not have any directors to vote for this year, but they can still cast a ballot for the School District 22 trustees.

Four representatives will be elected by voters for the City of Vernon and Areas B (Swan Lake-Commonage) and C (BX-Silver Star) in the Oct. 15 local general elections.
