Lumby Flood Update
Evacuation orders remain in place for over 20 residences in Lumby due to flooding.
Village staff say levels in the creeks have gone down but they are expected to rise again later this week with warmer weather and rain.
Some residents on parts of Faulkner Avenue, Bessette Street, Shuswap Avenue and Vernon Street remain out of their homes under the order.
Sandbags are available in the parking lot across from the Curling Club on Shields Avenue.
There are currently 18,000 sandbags available, and to date 50,000 sandbags have been produced.
The homes impacted are 1879 Faulkner Avenue (Units 1 – 10), 2156 Bessette Street (Units 1 – 12),
1886 Shuswap Avenue, and 1746 Vernon Street.
“Municipal staff and area contractors continue to respond to the flood threat and install emergency works in attempt to contain and mitigate flooding,” says a village media release. “All properties along the creek are under evacuation alert with certain locations still under mandatory evacuation order.”
The village also requests that residents and onlookers stay away from work areas for their own safety.
There is no boil water advisory in Lumby.
