2nd Phase Of 30th Street Rebuild Underway

Construction is underway on 30th Street between 29th and 30th Avenue in Vernon

That one block was closed Friday for a full rebuild.

While removal of the roadway hasn’t started yet, the city’s Infrastructure Manager Mark Dowhaniuk says it will shortly.

” Replacing all the utilities below ground and then full road, sidewalk, multi-use path construction as well..”

30th Street will remain closed between 29th and 30th Avenue for the next month.

” And then they’ll move into the 30th Ave – 30th Street intersection for about three weeks and then following that they’ll be heading north towards 32nd Avenue.”

The project is part of the overall 30th street facelift.

” This is the continuation of the work last year and that was about two million dollars and then the portion of work for 2017 is another 2 million dollars.”

Mark Dowhaniuk reminds people businesses in the affected are still open and accessible.
