Armstrong Flooding Eases
May 7, 2017 | 5:34 PM
The flooding in Armstrong has eased.
Water in most areas has receded and roads previously closed have re-opened.
Work began yesterday to clear the Smith Drive commercial area of debris and will continue today as necessary.
Water levels in low lying areas are dropping more slowly and monitoring continues this morning.
The city is reminding businesses and residents to consider their emergency preparedness in the event of potential further flooding this week as temperatures rise causing snow melt from higher elevations.
High turbidity levels in Fortune Creek forced the city to switch the water utility to the well source on Friday.
Users may notice a change in taste and odour of the water but that does not affect water quality.
All customers receiving water in both the City of Armstrong and the District of Spallumcheen are encouraged to conserve water as they can.
The City of Armstrong website at www.cityofarmstrong.bc.ca will be updated regularly as the situation warrants.
