NDP Leader Offers ‘Better BC’ at Vernon Visit

John Horgan says the NDP will create a better BC — if the party forms the next government.

The party leader made a campaign stop in Vernon Saturday, in support of local candidate Barry Dorval.

“What we’re finding is people wanting a government that works for them. That’s been our focus from the start, and should we get the good fortune of electing a BC NDP government, we will spend four years focusing on people, not corporations, but on people,” Horgan told the crowd of more than 100 people packed into Dorval’s campaign office on 30th Avenue.

The NDP leader had this message for people thinking of backing the Green Party.

“We can’t risk four more years of Christy Clark. We can’t risk another four years of BC Liberals ignoring the wishes of people in this great province. Three days, ladies and gentlemen. Three days to a better BC. Thank your very much,” Horgan concluded.

Horgan says he’s proud of the diversity in the party, with 50 percent of their candidates being women, and the hopefuls including the likes of of teachers, business-people, and an engineer.

“Mr. Weaver is fond of PhD’s. We have a couple of PhD’s ourselves,” quipped Horgan in reference to the Green leader Dr. Andrew Weaver.

Local Green Party candidate Keli Westgate and some of her supporters marched around the next block with their signs, during Horgan’s visit.

Horgan had further stops in Penticton, Oliver and Osoyoos on Saturday.
