Public input sought on trail and natural space plan

Jul 22, 2022 | 5:00 AM

The Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) is asking for public input on a draft Trails and Natural Spaces Master Plan.

The plan sets goals and strategies for trail development and natural spaces within Greater Vernon for the next ten years.

Work began on the plan in 2020, and the draft is based on previous public engagement and research.

The RDNO is now seeking further comment to help guide the completion of the plan, which is scheduled for September.

“Developing this plan will enhance the health and well-being of residents, provide environmental protection for sensitive areas, and play a key role in improving our residents’ quality of life”, stated Ian Wilson, general manager of community services.

“Through this process, we are seeking feedback to ensure that we have heard the comments and considerations of our growing community.”

The RDNO will hold two public information sessions to provide people with the opportunity to ask questions and give feedback on the draft plan.

  • July 28: Vernon Farmers Market at Kal Tire Place – 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • August 11: Pop-Up booth at Okanagan Rail Trail KM0 – 3 p.m. tp 6 p.m.

People can also provide input on the plan online until August 22.
