Duteau Reservoirs Full

May 4, 2017 | 10:49 AM

A word of warning for people living in the vicinity of the Duteau Creek water reservoirs.

The Regional District of North Okanagan says the Aberdeen and Haddo reservoirs are at full capacity.

Greater Vernon Water manager Zee Marcolin says that means all excess water from snow melt and rainfall will pass over the spillway structures at the dams, rising the levels of creeks and streams.

“One good thing is that, Aberdeen and Haddo are spilling, but Grizzly is on schedule. It is about two weeks behind, so hopefully that will extend our spill,” she tells Kiss FM.

Marcolin says the province has also raised the flow of Vernon Creek which comes out of Kalamalka Lake.

“These creeks are flowing fast and furious, and we definitely want everyone to be cautious around these streams.”
