Vees end Vipers win streak at nine in OT

Feb 10, 2022 | 5:15 AM

The Penticton Vees cooled-off the red hot Vernon Vipers Vipers with a nail-biting 4-3 win in overtime on Wednesday night.

The result before 2,500 fans at the South Okanagan Events Centre ended the Vipers nine game win streak, which included six straight road wins, but Vernon did get a single point.

The Snakes roared back from a 3-1 deficit with two goals in the third period from Luke Pakulak, including with 31 seconds left, only to see the Vees win it on a goal from Braden Doyle 3:14 in the first OT.

The Vees outshot the Vipers 57-21 on another busy night for Vernon goalie Roan Clarke.

“I’m super proud of them,” said Vipers coach Jason McKee on his team’s effort. “We stayed in the fight.”

The Vipers play their next three games at Kal Tire Place starting with back to back games against the Cranbrook Bucks Friday and Saturday.
