Hundreds Expected For Candidates’ Forum
The Performing Arts Centre hosts the four candidates running in the Vernon-Monashee riding for a forum tonight.
Executive director Keelan Murtagh says the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce is a co- sponsor, but it won’t just be about business,.
“I know that the chamber will have a couple of business related questions, but other than that, it’s wide open for everybody. We want to be able to capture and talk about all the topics the public wants to speak about,” Murtagh tells Kiss FM.
Murtagh says the audience can submit questions two ways.
“They can do it live. We’ll have microphones in the audience that people can line up behind and ask a question. Each person will have 30 seconds to ask a question and they must direct it to a specific candidate.”
People can also submit written questions.
The event runs from 7 to 9 pm.
It’s free to get in, but non perishable food donations for the food bank are encouraged.
“We are asking people, if they have the ability, to bring in a couple of canned goods, or food donations, and that will go to the Salvation Army food bank.”
The Chamber of Commerce will also be live-streaming the forum on its Facebook page.
