Flood Watch In Lumby
People in Lumby are keeping an eye on area creeks as the temperature warms up.
Mayor Kevin Acton says the recent rain and warmer temperatures haven’t caused any issues yet.
“We’ve got every thing set up, like sand bags at the usual places, and residents have been briefed on the issue,” Acton tells Kiss FM.
Acton thinks the village is ready.
“We know there is a good snow pack up there, and it’s been very wet, so the ground has no ability to accept moisture, so if it melts fast, we’re going to have some issues,” adds Acton.
The mayor says the community’s budget approved this week provides some extra money for flood control.
“We’ve bought 84 acres on the west side of Lumby to do some flood control, so we have $150,000 for a plan, and we’re starting to get the engineering done, and to figure out how we’re going to manage that.”
