The Christmas Ornament ready for premiere

The adventures of Santa and the Finch in a Vernon shopping mall are making a return engagement just before Christmas.

Bentall Green Oak, which manages the Village Green Shopping Centre, has partnered with Kelowna-based media production company Media Button for a second year to create a cinematic short film called The Christmas Ornament.

“The eight-minute short film featured eight-year old Okanagan-based aspiring actor Gemma Gibson as Quinn, who embarks on the Christmas adventure of a lifetime, meeting holiday prankster Finneas E. Finch (Paul Rossetti) and Santa (Vince Walzak) along the way,” said Darren Robinson, marketing manager for BGO.

The film is a follow-up to last year’s Finch in the Village, a short video that had nearly 100,000 views and won silver in the International Council of Shopping Centres Maxi Awards in 2021.

Robinson said the film features a 100 per cent local cast and crew and was shot on location in Vernon and Lake Country.

“The film’s intent is to showcase some of the amazing film production talent our area has to offer, while sharing a feel-good story that is sure to bring the holiday spirit to those in our surrounding communities,” he said.

The Christmas Ornament will air in a Facebook Live world premiere on Wednesday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. PST. You can find the invite on the Village Green Shopping Centre Facebook page at https://fb.me/e/2glg7uML1.
