Dam Repairs

Repair work begins at Yellow Lake Dam

Aug 20, 2021 | 10:13 AM

Those wishing to access the west of end of Yellow Lake south of Penticton may face some traffic disruptions as repair work has begun at the Yellow Lake Dam.

The work on the dam, which is located off Highway 3A between Penticton and Keremos, will go through October 15, 2021.

The repair work involves widening the spillway and dam in order to meet the inflow design requirements as set out in B.C.’s Dam Safety Regulation.

The water level in Yellow Lake may be lowered by half a metre in order to facilitate this work.

The public parking lot at the west end of Yellow Lake will be used for truck turnaround and machinery access, and visitors are being advised to park at the east end of the lake, where additional public parking and facilities are located.

The boat launch at the lake will remain open, but the Thompson-Okanagan Fish and Wildlife Branch asks boaters and anglers to avoid the area during construction.
