New Signs Going Up In Lumby

Jan 24, 2017 | 12:24 PM

Lumby is the latest Okanagan municipality erecting new welcome, directional and way-finding signs.

The previous ones had surpassed their life cycle and needed replacing.

Mayor Kevin Acton says it’s been a trying few years in getting new signs designed and installed.

“We had such a hard time finding contractors to do a sign strategy, and then to build and make the signs and then install them. It’s taken several years.”

Acton says they have been badly needed.

“When you come into Lumby you’ll there’s a few new signs that have popped up and there is going to be a much more technical and able collection of way-finding signs throughout the community as well.”

Mayor Acton says most other neighbouring communities have also experienced difficulties in replacing their signage.

“They have a shelf life and most communities, I think Enderby did theirs a couple of years ago and Armstrong did theirs recently as well. I think all the communities are on the same kind of cycle.”

Lumby joins Vernon and Lake Country in erecting new signage in the past year as well.
