Evacuation Order lifted for Juniper Ridge homes

Jul 2, 2021 | 10:00 AM

KAMLOOPS – The City of Kamloops has rescinded the tactical evacuation order for property owners along Capilano Drive in the Juniper Ridge area. All residents who were forced to leave there homes overnight, are now allowed to return home.

In a news release, the City says no homes were lost to the fire, which is now under control.

However Kamloops Fire Rescue and the BC Wildfire Service continue to douse hot spots. Helicopters with water buckets may be used to stamp the fire out completely over the course of the day.

In the meantime, the City is asking businesses and residents to reduce water use to protect the water supply for firefighting activity in Kamloops.

The area was part of an Evacuation Order that was put in place during the overnight hours as fire crews struggled to halt the persistent remnants of the fire that threatened many homes in the Valleyview and Juniper Ridge areas.
