Environment Canada had earlier issued a special weather statement warning of strong southwest winds across the Southern Interior which were expected to gust up to 70km/h to 80km/h into the evening. Local wind directions could vary, the agency said.

An update at just after 6 p.m. called on those to evacuate immediately if you are located in Head of the Lake and properties affected by Bradley Creek Wildfire. The Bradley Creek Wildfire is creating a significant risk to life.

The wildfire has jumped Westside road.

If you are north of the wildfire evacuate immediately NORTH to Kal Tire Place in Vernon.

If you are south of the wildfire evacuate immediately SOUTH to Westbank Lions Club at 2466 Main Street, West Kelowna.

If you are unable to evacuate call 9-1-1.

Okanagan Indian Band Issues Evacuation Order for Head of the Lake and Properties Affected by Bradley Creek Wildland Fire (K41351)

All residents North of Bonneau Rd and South of Highway 97 and all Residents Across the Lake along Head of the Lake Road Hawhola Rd and all Properties up to OKIB IR 1 boundary

The Okanagan Indian Band Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), at the recommendation of the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS), has issued an Evacuation Order for properties within the affected area due to the Bradley Creek Wildfire (K41351).

YOU MUST LEAVE THE AREA IMMEDIATELY

Two Emergency Support Service (ESS) Centres have been set up to assist people displaced due to the Bradley Creek Wildland Fire (K41351).

People north of Newport should make there way to Head of the Lake Hall. Emergency Support Services (ESS) has been established at the 118 Head of the Lake Hall, to provide assistance to evacuees.

Traffic south of Newport, should make their way to Westbank Lions Club. Emergency Support Services (ESS) has been established at 2466 Mainstreet, West Kelowna.

Community Update: Evacuation Order

The Okanagan Indian Band Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), has issued an Evacuation Order for all properties north of Mary Emerald Bay Road to Simila Road due to the Bradley Creek Wildland Fire (K41351).

Please avoid the area and allow firefighters and emergency personnel the space they need to safely respond to this incident.
