Armstrong pushes province for highway acceleration lanes

Armstrong council is asking B.C.’s Transportation Ministry to consider adding acceleration lanes onto Highway 97A from Smith and Rosedale Avenues and Harding Road.

Mayor Chris Pieper said the lanes were not in the plans when the four-laning was recently done by the province.

“We didn’t know that until the highway was completed. That’s maybe our fault, but we really believe in the safety of acceleration lanes,” Pieper told Vernon Matters.

Pieper said there hasn’t been any accidents at those sites.
