B.C.’s COVID case count jumps by 617 — but only 17 in Interior Health

B.C. has recorded an eye-opening increase in COVID-19 cases, but very few of them were found in Interior Health.

In a prepared update, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said there were 617 new cases Thursday (Feb. 18), with only 17 in the Interior.

The new cases bring B.C.’s total to 75,327, spread out as follows:

• 17,371 — Vancouver Coastal (up by 146)
• 44,562 — Fraser Health (up by 342)
• 2,045 — Island Health (up by 19)
• 7,072 — Interior Health (up by 17)
• 4,227 — Northern Health (up by 92)
• 155 — Reside outside of Canada (up by 1)
