New COVID-19 outbreak at Vernon care home

Interior Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at another Vernon care home.

One resident has tested positive for the virus at Carrington Place Retirement Residence at 4651 23rd Street.

Those in close contact with the person are in self-isolation and monitoring for symptoms.

“To protect the safety of all residents, outbreak protocols are in place, including a pause in all visits at this site,” a news release from Interior Health stated.

Carrington Place is a combined assisted living and independent living residence privately operated by Chartwell.

Three other Vernon care homes currently have Covid outbreaks which has claimed 20 lives.

As of Monday’s update, Noric House had 11 active cases, with six at Heritage Square and three at Creekside Landing.
