Justin J. Moore has taken his talents to a new level, and is showcasing the Okanagan in his new video.

The Vernon-raised singer-songwriter, who lives in Kelowna, has released Someone Who Loved You Can.

Moore describes it as “an intimate rhythmic pop song performed with rap-style singing vocals, similar to those of Ed Sheeran.”

The song was written, performed, and produced by Moore.

“It’s an audio storyline about the dissolution of a relationship. It was written over the course of many months, with each verse representing a new state of mind within the healing process,” Moore told Vernon Matters

The 20-year-old Moore’s voice talents come naturally as his parents, Paul Moore of Armstrong, and Melina Schein of Vernon, are both Juillard-trained vocalists.

Two of his most popular videos were duets with his mom and with his dad.

Moore, a professional session vocalist, has 10 original songs under his name and many more as a ghost-writer. His voice has been streamed over 500,000 times.

Among his influences are Steve Perry, Elton John, Bruno Mars, Bryan Adams, John Legend, Mario Lanza and Pavarotti.

Moore said the video for Someone Who Loved You Can was the creative work of his good friend and director/videographer Jackson Parker.

“We have been working together and combining our talents for over a year now. I sent Jackson this song and he said: ‘OK, man. It’s time that we make a proper music video.’ Jackson, having gone through a similar life event as me, was extremely moved by the lyrics and connected to them instantly. He was able to create a video that told my story exactly how I wanted,” Moore said.

The video was filmed in Kelowna over the course of a few hours.

“We ran around all over Kelowna picking out the most beautiful spots, rented a hotel room, and created lots of memories together. We shot the whole video in 12 hours. It was a very long day.”

The actors were Chelsea Tansey and Taylor McKnight, and the video work was done by Brody Jones with Brody Jones Cinema.
