One person dead in crash near Revelstoke

A fatal crash occurred on Highway 1 east of Revelstoke Friday morning.

RCMP responded to a report of two semis that collided head-on on the highway at approximately 9:20 a.m., Dec. 12.

First responders attended and one of the drivers was declared deceased at the scene, while the other was taken to hospital in critical condition.

Highway 1 was closed as Revelstoke RCMP, B.C. Highway Patrol, and the RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service investigated the crash.

“Our condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased individual,” Cpl. Brett Urano, B.C. RCMP spokesperson, stated.

“We would like to thank all the first responders who attended and provided care to those involved in the incident. We ask that anyone who has dash cam footage or witnessed the incident to speak to an investigator if they have not already done so.”

Mounties reminded people to slow down, drive to conditions, and to be prepared for changes to the weather in mountain passes.
