Respiratory Infection

Influenza outbreak declared at a Kelowna retirement home

Oct 30, 2026 | 2:25 PM

An illness outbreak has been declared at a Kelowna long-term care facility.

Interior Health identified an Inflenza A outbreak at the Vineyards Residence’s Lakeview Lodge Friday.

Influenza A is a respiratory viral infection that can cause fever, fatigue, cough and sore throat, headache, and muscle pain.

The health authority said actions had been taken to prevent further spread of the virus. That included cancelling or rescheduling non-essential outings and activities, increased use of personal protective equipment, and enhanced cleaning and sanitization. Signage had also been posted around the facility.
