The local martial arts school proved its mettle at a major tournament.

Sundance Martial Arts placed first overall at the 2025 Western Canadian ITF Taekwon-Do Championships.

The Vernon-based dojo secured the title after its athletes took home 20 gold, 17 silver, and 32 bronze medals across nearly all age categories.

“These results reflect depth, consistency, and long-term athlete development,” Master David White, Head Instructor of Sundance Martial Arts, said.

“With 288 competitors from 26 clubs, finishing first overall is a testament to the work our athletes and coaches put in every day.”

The local club fielded athletes in the senior, adult, junior, cadet, bantam, atom, and pre-junior divisions, and it claimed that having all these competitors involved helped propel them into first overall in the tournament.
