New order on B.C. rental properties to prevent Covid spread
B.C.’s provincial health officer is issuing a new order to try and reduce the spread of Covid-19 in the province.
Dr. Bonnie Henry is requiring those who rent properties — such as rooms, houses, air bnb’s, boats and houseboats — to limit number of guests and visitors as part of rental agreements.
Henry said more specifics of the order will be released soon.
“As with our other orders, the onus falls on the owner-operators to ensure the restrictions are being followed and we can support that with local bylaw and public health enforcement. We are working out the specifics, and it will be available within the next day, but we are looking at building it into rental agreements and ensuring that these are adhered to at all vacation and rental properties and resorts.”
