Jul 12, 2020 | 9:03 AM

UPDATE:

Vernon RCMP officers used a fire ladder to gain access to the roof of WL Seaton Secondary on Saturday night after complaints that items were being tossed off the roof at passing vehicles.

Officers responded around 9 p.m. after a complaint of youths seen throwing objects off the roof, says Cpl. Tania Finn, Vernon RCMP spokesperson.

“The police located numerous youths on the property, both on the ground and on the roof,” says Finn. ” The Vernon Fire Department attended with a ladder to assist the youth off the building.”

Finn says there did not appear to be any damage and the youths were released to their parents without charge.

Police and Fire-Rescue were at Seaton Secondary School Saturday night for what appeared to be a mischief complaint.

Witnesses say individuals were on the roof of the school allegedly throwing concrete and debris at passing vehicles and people.

Neighbours called police, who along with fire personnel used a ladder lift to put an officer on the roof to try to find who was responsible.

Vernon Matters has messages into the RCMP and Vernon Fire Rescue for details.
