Car damages home’s foundation in Vernon crash
Police are investigating the cause after a car ran into a Vernon home.
The car, which Mounties describe as small and silver in colour, was westbound on Palmer Road around 5:45 p.m. Tuesday when it failed to negotiate an intersection at Scott Road, crossed a lawn and struck a residence in the 6500 block of Scott Road.
The incident in the Okanagan Landing area caused substantial damage to the home’s foundation.
“With the structural damage done to the house, it is not safe for the vehicle to be removed at this time,” said Corporal Tania Finn, media relations officer for the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP. “The homeowner is in the process of arranging an engineer to assess the damage and determine the best way to remove the vehicle from the basement foundation.”
