New solar lights for walkers at athletic park

The Greater Vernon Athletics Park will be getting new solar LED lights.
The four lights, costing $60,000 according to the Regional District of North Okanagan, were requested by people who walk around the track in the evenings in spring and fall.
The existing lights work for sporting events but are seen as too bright and costly to activate for people just using the track for a walk.
“Proper area lighting is a crucial component for their safety and enjoyment of the park,” an RDNO news release said. The regional board approved the funding at its recent meeting.
