Walk to End ALS goes virtual

The Walk to End ALS will have a different look this year, but it will still be going ahead.

Due to COVID-19, there will be no in-person events this year. All virtual events in support of the Walk to End will take place on Saturday, June 20, the day before Global ALS Awareness Day.

You can show your support by joining your virtual community and collecting online donations with your personal fundraising page.

On the day of the Virtual Walk, you can choose a time that works for you, and take a walk in your neighborhood. Share a photo or video from your walk, and post it on your fundraising page or share it on social media.

Fundraising and donations support ALS research in the country (40 per cent of proceeds) and enable ALS Societies to provide community-based support (60 per cent of proceeds).

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, or motor neuron disease) is a disease that gradually paralyzes people because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body that we are typically able to move at will. Over time, as the muscles of the body break down, someone living with ALS will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe.
