New safety measures

Vernon Public Art Gallery reopens

Jun 16, 2020 | 10:04 AM

The Vernon Public Art Gallery has reopened to the public with modified hours and new safety procedures to protect the health of their staff and visitors.

As of Monday (June 15), the gallery will be open from 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the first hour, from 10-11 a.m., set aside for seniors and those with health concerns .

To maintain a safe environment, the gallery will require visitors to follow sanitization and distancing protocols, limit the number of guests in the gift shop and galleries, and has installed Plexiglas dividers where necessary.

“We are very excited to welcome the community back to the gallery, said Dauna Kennedy, executive director. “We recognize our position as a gathering place for the community to connect and engage with the arts and are eager to resume that role. Although it seems like we can see some light at the end of the tunnel, we ask that our visitors continue to follow the necessary health and safety precautions while visiting the gallery to ensure we can remain open to the public.”

Although the VPAG’s exhibitions and gift shop are now open to the public, their education programs such as “Mini Artists” and “Family Saturday” will not resume until the gallery feels it is safe to do so. In the meantime, the gallery will continue to provide art activities and education programs through online platforms.

“Please stay connected to our social media for the latest on live streaming events and new videos as they become available,” said Kennedy.
