May 28, 2020 | 5:15 PM

The owners of the Starlight Drive In in Enderby are calling it “great news.”

“We have received permission to operate our concession, and are working hard to get it up and running for tonight’s show and for the weekend so you won’t have to bring your own snacks!,” said the statement on their website.

Operating the concession was previously not going to be allowed.

It will make the operation more feasible, despite still being limited to 50 vehicles at one showing.

“We applied for an exemption to the 50 car cap and are awaiting a reply from the provincial health officer. Until then, we will continue to operate under the cap with a limited concession,” co-owner Brian Smith told Vernon Matters.

The businesses is getting strong support in comments on social media.

“We were there a week ago Monday….drove from Kamloops.Had a great experience at the Starlight. I was super impressed at how everything was so well organized with regards to social distancing,” said one person.

“You have been amazing! And we have enjoyed 2 drive-in nights already this year. We will continue to support you as often as possible. THANK YOU so MUCH! for being great community champions! Hang in there!,” said another

“I’m so sorry for the difficulties this year is bringing you. You have done a stellar job in rising to each challenge. Love you guys.💖,” stated another supporter.

The Starlight is one of just three drive in theatres in B.C. with the other ones in Langley and Prince George.
