IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s goes online

The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s is going ahead in 2020 — but with a different look from past years due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“At the Alzheimer Society of B.C., we know connection is so important – particularly at a time when people feel so isolated,” said a news release from the society. “This is why all Alzheimer Societies across Canada have united to bring the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s to you online on a new date – Sunday, May 31.”

Broadcast live from 9 a.m. PDT, the online event can be accessed from anywhere that has an internet connection. You can stream the Walk live, while joining in the fun from your living room, backyard or balcony.

“We hope you will join us at this time to show that no matter what the world looks like, we are still united to support people affected by dementia. By participating (whether by watching, walking, fundraising – or all three) you will be able to honour the people in your life who have been affected by dementia, and you’ll be showing people affected by dementia they are not alone – and this is so crucial, due to heightened feelings of isolation at this time,” stated the release.<

How to get involved:

Join – Register for The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s online. Join us on May 31 at 9 am until 10:30 am PDT to get on the livestream with walkers, and Alzheimer Societies from across Canada.

Walk – Decide how you will walk online! Some ideas: do jumping jacks, lift weights, do a dance, stroll around the block, take the stairs, do yoga, meditate. Take a photo or video, upload it today to social media and include the hashtag #IGWalkForAlz to join the nationwide movement. Get creative and have fun to raise funds for more than half a million Canadians with dementia.

Help – When you fundraise for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s online, you make a positive difference by raising funds for urgently needed research and programs to help people with dementia. The time is right. Now. Join. Walk. Help.

Vernon Specific Initiatives

1. Recycling / bottle depot contributions: Both recycling / bottle depot facilities in Vernon are helping support contributions to the walk by accepting donations to the IG Wealth Management Alzheimer’s Walk – all you have to do is ask that your funds be put towards the Alzheimer’s Walk at the counter.

The facilities are: Interior Recycling – 4205 24 Ave. and Chasers – 4702 31 Str.

IG Wealth Management Fundraising Competition

The local IG Wealth Management office is proud to support community fund-raising by offering prizes to the teams that raise the most funds for the Vernon walk. The prizes support local businesses which also need our love during these difficult times.

All you have to do is sign up for the walk, raise funds for a great cause and win.

Prize winners will be announced on walk day.
