UPDATE: Active living centre planning proceeding; survey shows strong demand for aquatic facilities
The Covid crisis won’t derail the planning for a new active living centre for Greater Vernon.
Vernon mayor Victor Cumming says a consultant, which conducted a community survey, will provide recommendations on facilities to local politicians in the next few weeks.
“The plan is to continue with the analysis of the survey which was complete mostly before the Covid restrictions came in place. The survey has done a good job of getting a significant random sample of Greater Vernon. They have good data, and now they’re sharing it with respective councils; ours, Coldstream’s and the electoral directors B and C,” Cumming told Vernon Matters.
Despite Covid-19 causing financial issues for everyone, Cumming says senior government grants could off-load some of the costs of the facilities which are projected between 59 to 78 million dollars on a variety of options.
